Football fan and very keen golfer, Kevin Orchard got his first taste of mortgage lending when he started working for a secured lender. Moving quickly on to work as a mortgage packager, liaising between brokers and lenders to finalise offers, Kevin decided to get his qualifications and focus on a career as a mortgage adviser. Kevin then worked for a variety of banks and building societies, positioning himself as an expert in the successful development of customer-focused call centres dealing with the processing of mortgage applications and managing teams of 100+ staff.
Frustrated with the product and criteria limitations of working for one lender, Kevin was delighted to get an opportunity to move into mortgage broking in 2003. Finding himself back in front of clients and writing a lot of business, he turned his passion for helping people, many of whom had been turned down several times over, into ambition and set up Bluechip Financial in 2007.
Despite being a Director of the company and responsible for business management, system development, and compliance, Kevin remains client-facing 70% of the time and specialises in HMO lending. He particularly enjoys the challenges of working in a constantly changing market and supporting people through a really important time in their lives be it buying a home to live in or investing in property.
Having started a grassroots level as a cashier for Nationwide in 1997 dealing with small individual transactions, Nick now specialises in sourcing development finance and commercial mortgage deals for professional investors worth millions of pounds. It was because of his experience working as a trainee financial adviser at Abbey National, where he first met Kevin and then managing private clients' portfolios for Barclays Premier that gave Nick the ambition to work with clients that he could form long-term professional relationships with.
Working internally, he felt restricted and didn't enjoy only being able to help half the clients he came across and therefore jumped at the chance to work on the broker side with Savills in 2003. Three years later, he set up his own business under the umbrella of John Charcol before becoming a Director of Bluechip alongside Kevin in 2008. With a passion for people and understanding complete portfolio needs, Nick is naturally positioned to generate new business, which he does successfully alongside the day to day client work, which involves sourcing deals for anything from large new build projects to small commercial residential developments.
Senior Mortgage Consultant
When Scott isn't looking after his two boys or pursuing his love for motorsport; Scott specialises in HMO lending, short-term bridging and development finance at Bluechip Financial. His career has taken him from general banking and financial services with Natwest in the early 90s to mortgage broking with John Charcol and Savills, where he was most recently an Associate Director until he joined the Bluechip team in 2014.
Leaving the corporate sector gave Scott the opportunity to work with the right people, give more tailored advice and achieve the level of independence, flexibility and job satisfaction he'd been craving for some time. He loves the challenges that the mortgage market throws at him and gets great fulfilment from securing mortgages and finance solutions under particularly complicated circumstances while dealing with a variety of clients and products. Being extremely conscientious and a stickler for detail, Scott thrives on researching different deals and mortgage structures to get the right results for his clients.
Straight from school, Charlotte (better known as Charlie) joined HSBC in a banking role, qualified as a mortgage adviser and stayed there for seven years before deciding to take a break from the sector and work for JP Morgan as a cash analyst. Missing customer interaction, she went back to being a mortgage adviser with RBS, but by now, she realised it was broking that would give her the opportunity to find mortgage solutions for a wider range of people. Vowing to never go back to working directly for a lender or a big corporation, Charlie joined Bluechip in 2016 and is now experienced in sourcing a variety of different products from residential and buy-to-let to commercial deals.
Her passion is to build relationships and own a project from the beginning to end so that she can see clients achieve their goals and she especially enjoys uncovering obscure products from new lenders. Charlie also seeks variety outside of work and is always looking for new and innovative ways to keep fit.
